Starting his DJ career in 1995 with what is now old skool (but was just new at the time), BCee fell in love with the sound of musical drum ‘n’ bass in 2001. Teaming up with Kubiks, the duo went on to launch Rubik Records in 2002 with their debut production ‘Life Changes’. In 2005 he teamed up with Lomax and together they released some 30+ tracks across labels such as Innerground, Fokuz, Nu:Directions and of course Spearhead Records. In November 2005 BCee moved to Ibiza, Spain and launched Spearhead Records. The next two years saw BCee play all around the globe alongside the resident Spearhead Records night at Café Paradis, San Antonio, Ibiza. Since returning to the UK in 2008, BCee has kept himself busy as CEO of Spearhead Records. His debut solo EP ‘Generations’ was released in 2009 and in 2010 Spearhead Records released ‘5, Re:Mixed, Re:Wired, Re:Wound’ mixed by BCee to celebrate 5 years of the labels success. BCee continues to build on his reputation for refined beats and alongside his regular releases on Spearhead Records has also recently produced tracks for the legendary Reinforced Records and his remix of Stretch & Vern’s I’m Alive has just been released on Ministry Of Sounds Clubbers Guide 2011.

Riya

Crowned queen of drum and bass, and named as the best DnB vocalist ever by innumerable critics, Riya has put her versatile voice to work on countless hyped releases, from her huge singles “Open Page” and “Redlines” on Metalheadz and Critical respectively, to headlining shows all over the world.
Riya is more than a vocalist – she’s recognised as an artist in her own right, and her work has seen her garner a loyal fan base and a respect amongst her peers that most MCs could only dream of. Data Transmission describe her as “…a versatile siren who can switch from vulnerable to tough faster than you can rewind the drop. Believe the hype.”
2012 will see Riya working with Lenzman again, releasing an EP, alongside singles with S.P.Y, Total Science, DRS and Jehst and a re-submission into the world of DJing. An exciting year ahead indeed.

One of the very first artists to sign to the fledgling Hospital label – way back at the turn of the millennium, Danny Byrd’s own inimitable take on soulful, vocal Drum and Bass has become a staple in the scene. His use of hip hop, house and R&B influences immediately began turning heads with his first Hospital outings.

2008 saw the release of Danny’s long awaited long player “Supersized”. Featuring the massive anthems “Shock Out” and “Red Mist feat I-Kay” this giant of an album saw massive support from big hitters such as Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, and the mighty Andy C. The VIP version “Red Mist VIP feat I-Kay”catapulted its way onto the daytime Radio One playlist receiving over Six hours of Radio One play in 2009, all to itself.

Following this up Danny brought liquid’s rave classic “Sweet Harmony” up to date in spectacular fashion. The hit single reached number one in the UK dance singles chart and took Danny’s to a whole new audience.

Championing a revival of classic dance music sounds along with his own unique and forward thinking production the second Danny Byrd studio album “Rave Digger” was unleashed October 2010. The lead single “Ill Behaviour feat I-Kay” smashed it’s way into the UK top 40, swiftly followed up by Radio One play listings for “We Can Have It All” and “Tonight”. As we enter 2011, the “Rave Digger – Special Edition” continues the Byrd domination!

Tracks such as ‘Underpass’, ‘Reverse Engineering’ and ‘4U’ have hi
ghlighted ROCKWELL as one of the most original and talented producers in bass music today. His productions are painstakingly constructed, beautifully arranged and thoughtfully mastered. Each track offers unique textures seldom heard in electronic music- let alone drum and bass- and his unmistakable signature sound is one of the few that works just as well in the living room as in the club.

2012 has seen ROCKWELL start the build-up to his debut album, due 2013. Tune of the year so far ‘Childhood Memories’ has hinted a future away from the constraints of 170bpm and has received support from across the bass music spectrum including Annie Mac, Mistajam, Chase & Status and Zane Lowe, who selected it as his ‘Next Hype’ track on BBC Radio 1. Scroll back to earlier in 2012 and Rockwell dropped bone fide dancefloor destroyers ‘Tripwire’ and ‘Constantcomplexrhythmicsound’ to great critical acclaim and DJ support, and recent remixes for Jubei and Netsky have demonstrated his credentials outside of the constraints of d&b once again.

As a DJ, ROCKWELL is starting to build a reputation for his eclectic sets, exemplified by his MoS and Rinse shows, and by his increasing tendency to drop the likes of Rustie, Baauer and Blawan in his sets. Behind the decks as in the studio, you’re always kept guessing as to what he’s going to pull out of the bag next. And after a year which saw him stun crowds at festivals such as Roskilde and Global Gathering, as well as making his Ibiza debut at Amnesia’s bass weekly Together, he has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting DJs in dance music.

Marco Antonio Silva a.k.a. DJ Marky is a Brazilian drum and bass DJ.

Together with DJ Patife, XRS Land and Drumagick, Brazilians were forging a new sound in drum and bass that became popular around the world with releases such as LK and Só Tinha Que Ser Com Você.

MC Stamina’s earliest experiences of MCing were on pirate radio in 1996; first Pressure FM (inactive), then on to currently active, once-pirate-but-no-longer station Rinse FM. In 2000, he met DJ Marky, DJ Patife and XRS Land, through being given a trial opportunity to perform at Movement, a weekly drum & bass event in London.

Presently Stamina still tours with Marky, and has also in recent times garnered an affiliation with Shy FX, performing with him and also being involved with projects on Digital Soundboy.

Rarely have we seen someone rise through the ranks as quickly as 23 year old Boris Daenen, a.k.a Netsky. Having a Belgian passport doesn’t often turn D+B heads, so you can be sure it’s his tunes which do the talking! Having secured releases on some of the biggest labels in the scene, gained DJ support from the likes of Friction, Hype, Fabio and London Elektricity, the young Belgian from Edegem near Antwerp earned a nomination as “Best Upcoming Producer” at the Drum + Bass Arena Awards in 2008 and fulfilled this ambition two years on with is “Best Newcomer Producer” award in 2010.

Mefjus is a new serious threat to emerge from the austrian drum and bass scene lately. His furious productions and collaborations speak for themselves and can be found in most of the neurofunk mixes out there right now.

Coming from a Hip Hop background and being familiar with outboard equipment, Mefjus entered production early on. This knowledge really planted a seed to grow now as he switched to the digital realm and took advantage of all the developments of music production in the 21st century. Today most of it happens inside the computer but to give the huge sounds some extra spice, analogue gear gives Mefjus tracks that special ingredient that makes them stand out from the rest.

Včasih se zgodi, da je vse prav. Da najdeš oba para nogavic, še preden se usedeš na bicikl in ugotoviš, da imaš različna. Da večino mleka ujameš v šalčko in ne steče po celem šporgetu ter še malo po tleh. Da zunaj sveti sonce in te soseda lepo pozdravi, čeprav si ji ponoči bruhal na teraso. Da je šef očitno dobre volje in te komaj kaj pogleda. Da fejsbuk dela v okviru normale in ti je občina končno odgovorila na pritožbo, četudi negativno. In ti lepi trenutki so razlog za veselje. Za praznovanje pa je razlogov vedno premalo. Ali preveč.
