Marcus Füreder – Parov Stelar is well known Austrian artist, that has made significant impact with his unmistakable and gentle vision of eclectic music, which combines jazz, swing and electronic music into unique experience.

Parov Stelar kicked into unknown, when swing revival was yet to come, and first attempts to present this music style from 1920, to wide audience from known pop artists were still quite far. In fact we might say that Robbie and Christina dig their inspiration also from Parov Stelar, that did this awakening very innovative and fruitfully. In good five years from when he released his first EP, he put out massive piles of quality material, that can be used as a model of combining modern studio technique with quite distant melodies. Biggest attention received the latest album Coco, where masterpieces like ‘Matilda’, ‘Libella Swing’ and ‘Hotel Axos’ just enchanted listeners and critics at the same time. Coco was turning point also because of the numerous collaborations with various artist from many different genres. There is strong presence of singer Lilja Bloom (his wife), beautiful cooperation with Sax the Max, which also follows him with his Band project, electro experimentalist Blaketroniks and others. Off course top experience are also his concerts, where, especially because of all great musicians, outstanding energy between band and audience prevails. You are invited to dance.

Its quite a pleasant news, that DrumWise is featuring on Two legendary labels. On Fukuz we have Smooth collaborations with Utah Jazz and Nookie. Tunes as you know from DW01 and DW02 are in gentler and softer mood. On Citrus there is another story with smasher On a Mission with Dementia and Rregula, and yet unreleased Smooth track I don’t which was first meant to be released on DrumWise, but opportunity was here and Smooth grabbed it. It’s surely a sign of times that Lynx & Kemo had made three tracks together before they had even met in person. Nowadays this sort of thing is referred to as a “mySpace success story”: sending each other messages and file transfers over the net is par for the course nowadays. With neither of them hailing from what one might call clubbing Meccas - Portsmouth and Dusseldorf via Hawaii respectively - it’s easy to understand how their music isn’t overly influenced by the mainstream. 2007 and Lynx & Kemo’s first release Global Enemies saw its release on Soul:r to accolades by the scene’s top DJs. Closely followed by the equally impressive Carnivale later in 2007 it firmly cemented Lynx & Kemo as the most exciting and original D&B acts to surface in years.

As a producer, Lynx has established a reputation for his technical ability and his innovation. Soul:r, Creative Source, Digital Soundboy and Bingo are just some of the leading labels he’s released on and are proof that his sound is not only fresh but diverse. With massive tracks including Disco Dodo and Global Enemies already under his belt, Lynx has clearly demonstrated he’s not afraid to break the mould whilst staying true to his own style.

Kemo’s global upbringing has allowed him to absorb to a wide variety of cultures and experiences, a fact that is clearly reflected in his musical work: The last 2 years have seen Kemo releases on such diverse labels as Soul:r, Digital Soundboy, Unique, Combination Records, Edel, Etage noir and Lebensfreude. Douglas Greed and Kemo released their first Single Deadlines in 2008, which was championed by the likes of Laurent Garnier. Zed Bias also features Kemo on his infamous Biaspheres Series and the duo continue their experimentation in sound together.

Lynx & Kemo are innovators in the truest sense of the word, pioneering soulful club music through a mix of orchestral composition and innovative songwriting. The Raw Truth is an album resplendent with influences, combining Hip Hop, Soul, Dubstep and Downtempo, while staying undeniably rooted in its drum and bass roots. Each track possesses subtle detail that guarantees longevity, ensuring there is something new to discover on each re-listen; songs are reduced to their very essence, emphasizing as much the space in-between the music as the music itself.

Based in Tokyo, Makoto Shimizu, better known as simply Makoto, is Japan’s chief Drum & Bass ambassador. After completing an Acoustic Engineering major at Nippon University, Makoto first signed with LTJ Bukem’s legendary Good Looking Records back in 1999.
Since then he has gone from strength to strength, releasing a long string of quality music in the form of singles and EP’s, but also on the famous ‘Earth’ and ‘Progression Sessions’ compilation albums. 2003 saw the release of his much anticipated debut album ‘Human Elements’this album was widely praised as the transition of 70’s Soul into the 21st century. also “Progression Sessions Japan Live 2003″ with Deeizm, recorded live from Space Lab Yellow in Tokyo was an absolute gem.

Makoto is now ready to spread his wings. With both remixes and original music already out or set for release on labels such as Innerground, Creative Source, Hospital, Liquid V and Bingo as well as a second album ‘Believe In My Soul’ has been released on Good Looking in 2007, the future is looking bright for the Tokyo native.

As for deejaying, Makoto, together with Deeizm MC has travelled across the world (the U.K., Europe, America, Brazil, Australia, Asia and Japan are just some of the places they have visited) and has become one of the most sought-after deejays on the Drum&Bass circuit.Makoto’s sets are characterised by the same jazzed-out and soulful music that he is known for as a producer.
